Technology in golf equipment is
regulated by the rules established by the USGA. If equipment
designers take advantage of these rules by maximizing their designs,
there is little to no distinct difference (advantage) between their
clubs and anyone else’s. Most equipment manufacturers have done this
over the past few years. As new designs emerge, you see that
everyone is pushing the limit of MOI, COR, and volume. The
differences from company to company now are typically cosmetic in
nature. Appearance does play a role, since the game of golf does
require confidence. The look of the club can inspire confidence in
us all as we address the ball. However, the Rules of Golf determine
grooves, finish and materials application……….the technology.
